4 G LTE IN LEBANON SOON !
Lebanon to deploy fourth-generation mobile ultra-broadband Internet access by 2013, telecoms operator Alfa said as it successfully completed a lab test on the 4G-LTE (Long Term Evolution) technology.
During the test, unprecedented speeds reaching 100 Megabits per second were achieved, the operator said in a press release Thursday.
“In parallel with the success … Alfa will be launching soon a three-month pilot phase on the 4G-LTE technology on 20 4G-LTE existing sites installed in Beirut,” the company’s statement said.
“The pilot phase will include 300 participants, and it will span across a geographical area covering the administrative area of Beirut,” the statement added.
The commercial launch of the fourth-generation data service will take place in 2013, the statement said.
