BEIRUT: Middle East Airlines, Lebanon’s flag carrier, signed Thursday a Memorandum of Understanding for the purchase of 10 A320neo and A321neo aircraft, a statement by international aircraft maker Airbus said. MEA will announce its choice of engines at a later date, Airbus added.

 This news was published on the 13^th of July 2012 , around 4 days ago ! Well i asked myself, why does MEA needs to increase the number of aircraft ? This is an investment and this means that the company is planing to expand business and to add new destinations !

When i used to go to Dubai with Fly Emirates i used to be amazed and astonished by the number of Aircraft “Fly Emirates” has. They even have a private terminal only for their aircraft with more than 250 Gates!

Yes in Dubai this is normal, Dubai has a stable situation, they have one Leader who till know seems to know very well how to govern his Emirate! Even when Dubai suffered (and maybe still suffering) from the economic crisis, the state didn’t collapse, they knew how to set plans and strategies to get out from the crisis !

In a small comparison with MEA and Lebanon, the Green magical land on the great blue Mediterranean sea, i see here we have many leaders , who know nothing but how to improve their personal status and increase their personal Fortunes and on the other hand i see (So called) people who acts as (if) sheep! And sometime worse that sheep!

I feel so mad, very bad, most of the time I’m desperate, i find no way out from this huge dilemma and i ask why would i stay here ?

Maybe because i didn’t find anywhere else to go, but i should do it and very soon, cause this country would never ever improve unless we BURN IT ALL (not just the tyres) and BURN Most of the sheep inside it !

It seems we need a certain Neo NERON !

Those people has names, their faces are well recognized, the Lebanese Army should simply kill them, not because we love killing people, but simply because those animals are contributing in killing a whole country and destroying a whole nation.

We still hear official authorities denying any responsibility and we are still experiencing the normal official behavior with the collaboration of the Lebanese media which consist on letting time pass and never mention the issue again so that the people forget the case!

Talking about politics about the bullshit related to the 11 Billion USD and the bullshit related to the 6 other Billion USD, in addition to what is happening in Syria, Iran, Iraq, and even in Fiji, is considered more important for our media than doing everything possible to force the officials lead an accountability act towards the responsible for what happened!

As for us in choura2yak.com we hope we will find who would stand with us and share with us a public campaign to force all responsible parties to pay for what they caused the Lebanese population by this huge national crime!

While Francois Holland the socialist, who wants to apply socialism in France, who want to move more into acquiring immigrants, who wants to let foreigners who live in France Vote in the local elections, who want to decrease the retirement age from 62 to 60 , got the majority of votes in the first round, we see the extreme right ‘Marine Le Pen’ who normally is against immigration , who is more fundamentalist towards Europe and who want to get back to the national France with it’s closed borders got the 3rd majority in a all time record high for the ‘Front National’.

I don’t have much information neither advanced knowledge in the local political French game, but I can smell a huge difference in the socio-economic and political orientation in the French society which is similar to what we have here, the only difference is that in France they act as humans and they react as intellectual people with full respect and tolerance, here (IN LEBANON) we are nothing but Monsters caring to eat each other simply because we are NON HUMAN!

Till we become humans, we will remain assholes !

UN chief Ban Ki-moon made a call to double global consumption of renewable energy over the next two decades in order to ensure sustainable economic development.

Can anyone explain to me where are the programs and plans set by our Lebanese government to encourage investment in renewable energy industries?

Can anyone tell me whom of those MPs, who spent hours of talking and shouting and attacking in others, proposed or even mentioned anything related to a future plan related to renewable energy in Lebanon?

Can anyone tell me where are the official programs to build the proper infrastructure in Lebanon so that we can import Green Cars mainly electric?

None of the official authorities care on anything futuristic they all react and never act and this is the huge dilemma that is letting our country and society move backward in terms of development and improvement!

Bakeries owners, part of the Capitalists group in Lebanon, agreed with the Lebanese minister of economy (who is also an industrial capitalist) to increase the price of bread in a way that fit their benefits.

Lebanese sheep (citizens) will for sure accept everything, shut their mouth, go to all bakeries buy bread with the new pricing, call some radio stations (who’s owners are capitalist) nag a little bit, say that this is unacceptable waste money on the phone call, the radio station will fill their air with those nags and then …. NOTHING WILL CHANGE!!! Sheep will remain sheep, capitalist will keep on making huge profits!!

The site of the ministry, which is supposed to be a help portal for all the citizens where they can use it to get information as well as post claims and follow up the status of their tickets, in addition to be able to check their bills and their consumptions and why not to be able to pay online, is now with our great minister, who broke all records in number of press conferences, a new medium to spread his thoughts on hourly basis !

The electricity problems will be solved in Lebanon ….. who can guess when ??

Several ministry websites – those of Foreign Affairs, Justice and Energy – are still inaccessible and viewers trying to open the sites are greeted by a message addressed to the government from “Raise Your Voice,” which calls for a popular movement by people to demand their rights.

“We are RYV, short for Raise Your Voice, and we are simply a group of people who could not bear sitting in silence, watching all the crimes and injustice going on in Lebanon. We will not be silenced and brainwashed by your media. We will not stop until the Lebanese people mobilize, demand their rights, and earn them,” part of the message said.

The websites of State Security, ISF, Customs and the Banking Control Commission of Lebanon were also hacked.

“We will not stop until the standards of living are raised to where they should be in Lebanon. We will not stop until this government’s self-made problems are solved, like the power shortage, water shortage, rise in gas prices and rise in food product prices. We are RYV, expect us to break the silence, whether in the streets or on the Internet. Silence is a crime,” the message ends.

The country’s National News Agency was also among state-related websites targeted in the hacking. Visitors to the site are met by a blank screen.

Government websites were not alone in being targeted.

The website of the National News Agency was hacked overnight, as was that of MTV television station. The MTV website remains closed but technicians at the television station have removed the message by “Raise Your Voice.”

Various consumer protection groups have long cast doubt on the veracity of the numbers issued by the Central Administration of Statistics.

According to Consumers Lebanon, prices have increased by more than 5 percent since deliberations over a wage increase started some months ago.

The Telecoms Ministry offered a piece of real estate it owns in Dikwaneh to the Information Ministry so it can be used to establish a “Media and Smart City,” the National News Agency reported.

Information Minister Walid Daouk and Telecoms Minister Nicholas Sehnaoui visited Friday the real estate, which will be put at the disposal of Daouk so he can present the “Media City” project.

“Minister Sehnaoui told me that the real estate is located in a strategic area which will allow us to build a media city,” Daouk said, adding: “We will start work in this area and continue to attract Lebanese media professionals.”

According to Daouk, “this piece of real estate is special because it is in the heart of Beirut and close to this important and vast network of roads and telecom exchanges.”

A good initiative from capitalist Lebanese Politician, I just hope that this action won’t be remunerated in a certain illegal way and be compensated in a corruptive act in the future!

In line with the list, the price of red diesel will be increased by 200 LL, while that of green diesel by 300 LL.

For the 10th consecutive week, Gasoline prices in Lebanon increase. What are the Lebanese citizens waiting to react, I think that we can’t have a second BouAzizi in Lebanon these days simply because we need Gasoline to burn ourselves and we are not able to afford it !

Few weeks ago a demonstration took place for the case of the History book, why we can’t see any Lebanese party who would organize a peaceful demo that would call for reforms in the transportation and Fuel sectors in Lebanon ?

Tourism Minister Fadi Abboud played down the food safety controversy sweeping the country Friday, saying that the amount of spoiled meat that has been found is a small percentage of the total meat on the market.

“The quantity of spoiled meat discovered in Lebanon does not exceed 180 tons out of 10,000 tons which are sold in the Lebanese market. Also, 90 percent of meat arrives to Lebanon fresh and only 10 percent of meat sold in the country is frozen,” Abboud said, following a meeting with the heads of the associations of restaurants and nightclub owners.

The minister of Tourism is trying to say that what has been discovered in terms of spoiled meant is negligible comparing to the quantities of Good meat and other kinds of food available in the market, BUT we would ask our minister and our great government:

• Can they assure that all the remaining quantities of meat and Food in general available in the market are Good and not affected ?
• Can our minister promise us that in case similar kind of bad food exists again in the market , the authorities are able to discover it before being spread in the supermarkets and restaurants?
• In case Mrs Berri won’t be affected another time and in case none of the politicians will eat some of the spoiled food, would authorities react again and arrest the responsible of spreading deadly food in the Lebanese Market ?
• Can Mr Abboud and Prime Minister Mikati tell us what happened with Mr Mikati’s relative who owns a warehouse of spoiled chips in Tripoli ?
• Last question, Should Lebanese be naive and silly and idiot up to the point of believing what Lebanese ministers and Officials says ?

All these questions won’t have any answer but they are fair questions and a social action should take place to boycott all restaurants and hotels till the moment where we would have really caring authorities for Food and beverage Safety in Lebanon!

The survey ranked Prime Minister Najib Mikati and his brother Taha Mikati in 377th place with a net worth of $3 billion each, up from 409th place and from $2.8 billion each in 2011.

They were followed by Mr. Bahaa Hariri in 491st place with a fortune of $2.5 billion whose ranking declined from 316th place in 2011.

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri ranked in 764th place with an estimated fortune of $1.7 billion.

His ranking also regressed in the ranking, from 595th place in 2011.

Also, Ayman Hariri and his brother Fahd Hariri came in 960th place with $1.3 billion each, down from 833rd place and $1.5 billion each last year.

The statement said the ministry had finalized restoration works on the buses – which had been nonoperational since the 1990s – in September last year. But it was not clear why the government had delayed putting these buses back into service.

Public Works and Transportation Minister Ghazi Aridi said the step aimed to curb arbitrary fare increases reported on some privately run buses and minivans in the city.

“These public buses will help keep transportation fares balanced by giving customers the option to commute at fixed official rates,” he said.

The new buses will be operate on three different routes from Dora to Mathaf, Cola to Hadath, and UNESCO Palace to Damour, according to the statement.

But transportation experts said Greater Beirut still requires an additional 200 buses to reach an adequate level of public transportation service.

98-octane graded fuel now costs LL36,900 while 95-octane graded fuel costs LL36,200, according to the Energy and Water Ministry’s weekly price update.

Kerosene gas was also up by LL400 and now costs LL30,500. The price of fuel oil and diesel went up as well; both now cost LL31,600.

All prices are per 20 liters.

Last year [the Investment Development Authority in Lebanon] processed more than $93 million in projects although we had a Cabinet crisis, and this year we are negotiating more 50 potential projects that are worth close to $1 billion,” Itani told The Daily Star in an exclusive interview.

Projects undertaken by IDAL in 2011 have created more than 1,800 direct and indirect jobs in the market.

I don’t want to be negative, but I honestly don’t see any economic advantage or added value concerning this news. The main problem in Lebanon nowadays is the Inflation and the crazy increase in prices while there is no strategy to solve this dilemma and no body is acting on any level to limit at least the growing inflation rate on daily basis!

The alliance’s request is part of its overall recommendations to the U.S. authorities in the annual “Special 301” review of copyright piracy and market access problems in 41 countries.

Lebanon is one of 22 countries named for the watch list that includes Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Turkey from the MENA region.

The IIPA stated that piracy remains a significant obstacle to legitimate business in Lebanon despite the government reportedly making progress in fighting infringements.

The report highlighted problems including end-user piracy of business software that continue to cause enormous losses to software companies.

Book piracy in the form of illegal photocopying in and around university campuses remains widespread, the report added.

It said Lebanese courts are still weak in enforcing intellectual property rights as court processes do not deter further infringements or provide adequate compensations for copyright owners.

The report, dubbed “Global Property Guide,” ranked Beirut in 50th place in terms of the price of an average apartment.

Regionally, Beirut ranked second only behind Dubai, the Byblos Bank weekly newsletter said, quoting the same report.

The average price per one square meter in Beirut was put by the report at $3,223, higher for instance than in Saint Croix in the U.S. Virgin Islands, Manila and Buenos Aires, but lower than cities like Bangkok, Dubai and Riga.

Beirut’s average rent was $1,872 for a 150-square-meter apartment, higher than the Arab average of $1,526 per month.
